Day #1 – Starting Out

I don’t remember when it was exactly, but I believe that I learned to knit in 2000. I had learned to crochet several years before I learned to knit, but I was never very good at it. I taught myself go knit. I found this kit at Wal*Mart called I Taught Myself Knitting or something like that. I was so excited when I was able to buy it. I bought the kit and some Caron Simply Soft and went home and sat down to teach myself to knit. I literally sat down with the book in front of me, yarn in one hand and needles in the other hand with this horribly confused look on my face. I stared at the book for probably 20 minutes with no clue what the heck the book was telling me. It finally clicked. I finally cast on. It made sense (kinda) and I was doing it! I was knitting! Since I didn’t know anyone else that could knit, I started teaching people right away. Years later I found out that my grandmother used to knit. I could have been knitting from the time I was a little girl! What the heck! I have always lived crafting of all different kinds so knitting just came as something natural to me.
